WHERE:
Backlot Arts Theatre on 2208 Industrial Blvd. (Turn East off of N. Washington Blvd. onto 47th St .) Follow signs to Backlot Arts.  Their phone number is 363-9017
WHY:
  Food, Fun, Music, Art.  This event affirms the value of connection and appreciation between the diverse parts that make up our community, the worth and meaning such connection imparts to the human experience, and a healthy community.  

Schedule of Events:

  All day (10:30am – 8:30pm)

°     Art show and silent auction featuring local artists. Much of the art has a social message about community connectivity. “Dixie” by local artist Lauren Grant is a black and white photography project on segregation and isolation in North Sarasota County that puts a human face on a marginalized community. 25% of silent auction proceeds to benefit Art Helps, Art Heals.

°     Community Photography- Sign up to participate in a project to let your own photographs document the importance of connecting different races, ethnicities, generations etc.

•     11:30am – 1:00pm

°     Community Dialogue: Arts and Community Connection (open to all, lunch included): Artists, Arts Organization Representatives and everyday community members will participate in a facilitated dialogue exploring how art can be a catalyst to appreciate the ‘other’ and connect diverse parts of Sarasota County’s community.

•     1:00pm – 1:30pm

°     Dr. Porter and the Love Campaign“the music that does more than sound!”

•     1:30pm - 2:00pm

°     Chadwick will sing out music from his CD “Tearing Down the Walls”, and inspired music that will touch the heart.

•     5:30pm – 6:00pm

°     Debut of the Coalition for Inclusion & Diversity (CID). This is a newly organized coalition of individuals, associations and businesses who share inclusion and diversity as a common core value. Learn what CID is, and its dreams for the Sarasota County community.

•     6:30pm - 8:00pm:

°     Henry Porter and Company, vocal ensemble, will be belting out old standards, ballads and love songs for dancing under the stars.
